My Story

Born and raised in Burlington, Vermont, Karin’s aesthetic was formed in the undulating Green Mountains and stimulated by her Jewish American father, who was educated at MIT as a Mechanical Engineer, and her mother, a first-generation Norwegian Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nurse.

In 1985, Karin graduated with a BFA in sculpting from The University of Hartford School of Art. In her senior show, she sold several pieces to individuals and corporations.

After graduating, Karin returned to Vermont to earn a graduate degree in Art Education from the University of Vermont and began teaching middle and high school.

Quickly, she learned that although she loved to make art, she wasn’t excited to teach it. What did excite her was the stories and processes of the kids she was teaching. Thus, her easy decision to return to graduate school to become a counselor, using art as her primary tool to help people express their inner selves. In 1993, Karin graduated with an MS in counseling and began her 30+ career as a school counselor.

After 40+ years in Vermont’s dark winters, Karin moved to Palo Alto, CA, and began her life in the sunshine. She thrived as a counselor and spread her wings, living in a wonderfully diverse environment. The Social Emotional Learning (SEL) program she created won awards, and she grew as a school administrator for 640 students and close to 100 staff.

In 2022, COVID, living in data-driven Silicon Valley, and our political climate prompted Karin to leave school counseling and return to her 1st love, Clay. So, without knowing a soul, Karin moved to magical Santa Fe, NM, to start her new life where things spiritually aligned with her authentic self, and Karin, and her art flourished.

Inspirations come from places like Carlsbad Caverns, The Grand Canyon, The Green Mountain State (Vermont), Flowers in Bloom, Art Nouveau, the Arts and Crafts movement, and the many fabulous artists of Santa Fe, NM.

Please join her in this beautiful next adventure in life, ‘Creating in All Dimensions,’
